It looks like the powers-that-be will change the way some courses are taught. There will be no traditional lectures. The students will be able to access lectures online. Most of the class time will be spent doing problems, and the teachers will walk around to help the students and see that they are on task.
It looks like it is a good idea, but I am sure all the other course redesigns looked good. Shakespeare said something relevant when he said, “The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, But in ourselves.” There are features of the course redesign which will probably get some students through these courses who would not otherwise get through. But if the students had good study habits, the course redesign would be irrelevant.
